Active School

The Department of Education and Skills wishes to recognise schools that strive to achieve a physical educated and physically active school community by awarding them the Active School Flag (ASF). The Active School Flag will be awarded to schools that:

ü  Adhere to DES guidelines regarding PE timetable provision for all students

ü  Teach a broad and balanced PE curriculum

ü  Inform and invite the whole school community to participate in the ASF process

ü  Self-evaluate current provision in terms of PE, Physical Activity and Partnerships

ü  Plan, implement and monitor improvements for each of the aforementioned areas

ü  Organise an ‘Active School Week’ as part of the annual school calendar

ü  Organise different initiatives during the school year. i.e. lunch times sports

ü  Schools should work to their own time frame in order to implement changes that will have real and tangible benefits.

Welcome to Coláiste Mhuire Co-Ed

jcAt Coláiste Mhuire Co-Ed, we prepare students for the challenges of tomorrow.  Our varied curriculum places an emphasis on developing and training students for the increasingly competitive employment market.

The standard of education available at a school is highly dependent on the quality of its staff.  Coláiste Mhuire possesses an excellent teaching staff who are enthusiastic, eager and highly qualified in their specialist subject areas.  Our aim is to produce a confident and secure student, with a strong work ethic and a dedication to teamwork.  Our commitment to class size and our Student Support Team make Coláiste Mhuire Co-Ed hard to beat.

We aspire to keeping entrance numbers for each year at a maximum of 60 students; this facilitates us to have an average class much smaller than the national average.  Our commitment to smaller class sizes allows us to provide individualised attention to each student, meaning your child will never get ‘lost in the crowd’.
